§  Do you think the makers of the film and trailer intentionally tried to involve the two top groups you identified and alienate the bottom two groups? Why or why not?
Yes because men like to watch films with explosions, fighting and guns. They like to watch action adventure films. Most teens like to watch violence and action.

§  The movie made a quite a lot of money in the UK, because it was an action adventure movie and their audience was mainly men and teens.

The movie that fits mostly in the genre is Pirate of the Caribbean, because the it looks most obvious because in the poster there is sword fighting. You can tell that there is going to be action by the name.

The movie that is mo hard to define is Avatar because in the poster it looks more peaceful and you wouldn’t think that there is any action in it.

Action movies are usually “ high concept “ films where the whole movie can be easily summarized.

Why do some people criticise action adventure films?
§  Simple theme
§  Cheesy storyline.
§  Low quality scripts.
